SpeechMike Air, the wireless version of the world’s best-selling professional audio recording device. The highly successful SpeechMike concept features a dictation microphone, playback speaker, dictation control, and PC navigation in a single device. In addition to a range of new functions, the SpeechMike Air design is immediately striking. Its elegant yet robust casing, enlarged function buttons and streamlined shape have been specifically tailored to the needs of heavy dictation users. Recording quality has been further improved, making the SpeechMike Air the ultimate device for use with speech recognition technology. The SpeechMike is compatible with the world’s leading speech recognition software Dragon Naturally Speaking: key functions of the speech recognition software can be directly controlled at the press of a button using the new Philips Speech Control software which is shipped with every SpeechMike.
 
Pre-installed default settings make the SpeechMike ready for immediate operation with the speech recognition software. The Speech Control software also allows you to assign specific functions to the programmable buttons, allowing each use to customize the device according to the individual preference. The design of the SpeechMike Air has been influenced by the latest ergonomic research findings. The movements made by the user during the dictation process have been analyzed in great detail: the most important buttons have been enlarged and positioned within easy reach of the thumb to keep movement to an absolute minimum. The dictation process itself has been made significantly easier thanks to the “push-to-dictate” function: to start and stop functions can be controlled with a single button, enabling the user to dictate intuitively.

In addition to the audio device, the SpeechMike Air system includes the SpeechMike AirPort docking station. The docking station is connected to the PC and allows for data transfer as well as recharging. It also houses the SpeechMike AirBridge receiver module, which handles the speech data from the dictation device – wirelessly from a range of up to 10 meters (Over 32 feet). The SpeechMike AirBridge receiver module can also be used when detached from the docking station. For example, the AirBridge is connected via USB cable to a laptop computer, allowing the user to dictate with the SpeechMike Air in the usual way and affording maximum mobility. Data transfer is encrypted and bug-proof and takes place via Bluetooth technology using a specially developed redundant data transmission protocol. If the user goes beyond the reception range with the SpeechMike, the device gives a vibrating signal.
 
The SpeechMike Air package comes with a range of high-quality accessories, including a leather case, international power adapter and rechargeable batteries. A specially developed headset (optional) can also be connected directly to the SpeechMike Air, delivering outstanding speech recognition results even in exceptionally noisy environments thanks to its noise-canceling microphone.
 
The full potential of SpeechMike Air can be exploited in conjunction with the SpeechExec Pro and SpeechExec Enterprise digital dictation management solutions or when integrated with industry systems, for example in the medical or legal sectors. Integration is supported by a separate Software Development Kit (SDK). The SpeechMike Air is operated just like any standard USB device, allowing for the kind of easy integration for which all wired SpeechMikes are renowned.
 
The SpeechMike Air is available in two versions. The SpeechMike Air Classic features the highly functional sliding switch. With the Pro version, the dictation process is controlled using specific buttons. The models feature a dust-resistant trackball, which for the first time also allows for dynamic cursor control. Both models are available with and without SpeechExec Pro software.
